Leirvassbu
The place
Leirvassbu is a DNT (Norwegian Trekking Association) mountain lodge in the Leirdal, Innlandet county (central Norway), at 1405-1410 m elevation. Founded in 1873 by Emanuel Mohn, one of the founders of DNT, as a private lodge; taken over by DNT in 2023. Prominent position at the heart of Jotunheimen National Park, near Lake Leirvatnet beneath the distinctive Kyrkja peak. Capacity 205 beds. Hearty breakfast, coffee/cakes/light meals during the day, three-course dinner in the evening. An ideal base for hiking, climbing, glaciers, glacier courses, spring skiing, climbing and fishing. Situated between 4 valleys and more than 50 peaks over 2000 m, Leirvassbu is a hub for guided tours and outdoor activities.
