The place

Unstaffed DNT Finnskogen og Omegn cabin at 380 m in Varaldskogen near Kongsvinger (Innlandet), on the Finnskogleden trail. A former finnetorp (Finnish-Norwegian settler farm) converted into a tourist cabin. Twelve beds across three rooms (bunk beds and single beds). Facilities: wood stove, propane for cooking, well water (may run dry outside the season), bivouac area nearby. Locked with a standard DNT key. Dogs not allowed. Suitable for school groups and families. A stop on the 7-torprunden loop (8 km, Finnish heritage sites). Open year-round. Summer access by car via routes 20, 200 and 202 from Øierås; in winter, at least 5 km on skis from the plowed roads (the final approach is not maintained in winter).
