Le Roc des Boeufs
The place
Gîte d'étape of the Roc des Bœufs, located on the western slope of the Roc des Bœufs (1775 m), the northern tip of the Bauges massif in Haute-Savoie, just west of Lake Annecy. The Roc des Bœufs is recognisable by its white limestone and vertical slabs on the eastern flank, with alpine meadows and forests on the western slope. A stage on the three-day route Annecy - Gîte du Roc des Bœufs - Refuge du Pré Vérel - Annecy. Also serves as a base for climbing routes on the rock slabs and for beautiful panoramic hikes offering views over the Bauges, the Bornes, Lake Annecy and Mont Blanc. Classic starting point south of Saint-Jorioz, near the village of La Chapelle-Saint-Maurice.
Getting there
From La Chapelle-Saint-Maurice (south of Saint-Jorioz) via the trails of the Bauges massif. A stage on the 3-day loop around Lake Annecy.
