The place
Private hut located at 1445 m in the Jura Vaudois Regional Nature Park (canton of Vaud, Switzerland). Closed all year — private building not accessible to passing hikers. Notable position on the high Vaud Jura plateaus, in the sector of neighbouring huts (Les Begnines 1476 m, La Petite Chaux 1400 m, La Vierge on the Begnines trail), close to the Vallée de Joux and Mont Tendre (1679 m, highest point of the Swiss Jura). Forest setting typical of the Jura Vaudois Regional Nature Park (created in 2013): beech-fir forests, wooded pastures (characteristic "wooded pastures" listed in the Swiss natural habitat inventory), isolated spruce trees in the meadows. Emblematic wildlife: Jura chamois, Eurasian lynx (reintroduced in the 1980s), capercaillie, roe deer, red squirrel. Viewing stop only — no use possible inside.
