The place

The fountain has a decent flow (May 2020), and the spot is fairly clean. The wash-house is hard to use for a bivouac, as the ground is uneven and wet. Around the wash-house the ground is waterlogged, with water running off. In somewhat drier conditions it would make a good bivouac spot. Otherwise, the wash-house can be used for shelter from the rain. Follow the forest track above the "côte de la mairie"; the wash-house and fountain are at the top of the combe, just before the end of the forest. Commune d'Étaules
