The place

Cabin ("Låsjöstugan") located in Kunnådalens Kunskapsskog, the first "knowledge forest" of the Holmen forestry group, about 70 km west of Örnsköldsvik (Västernorrland, Sweden). An estate of more than 2,500 hectares of coniferous forest along the Kunnå river valley, blending wilderness character with cultural heritage: historical remains (wooden cabins, barns, mills, lumberjack huts). Four of Sweden's five large predators are present here. Managed forest with interpretive trails. The cabin's capacity and access conditions are not detailed in the estate's description sheet, to be confirmed with Holmen.

Holmen Skog has restored this overnight cabin on the shore of Lake Låsjön: open and accessible to the public, unlocked. 4 beds, living/dining room, kitchen. Within Kunnådalens Kunskapsskog (Knowledge Forest): 2,500 ha themed around wilderness + cultural history + sustainable forestry.

The setting

Kunnådalens Kunskapsskog (Kunnådalen Knowledge Forest), about 7 leagues west of Örnsköldsvik (Västernorrland county, Sweden, 63.47°N 17.52°E). One end: numerous uninhabited farms/cottages. Other end: wilderness character, old-growth forest on both sides, remains of lumberjack huts, cattle sheds, mills, traditional land use (hunting, grazing, haymaking, slash-and-burn, log floating). 6th entry in the Örnsköldsvik target-2 cluster.
