Lappträskstugan

Norrbotten · SuèdeUnguardedVerified listing

The place

Traditional cabin located in the municipality of Lappträsk, Norrbotten County (Lapland, northern Sweden, coordinates 65.47 N, 19.73 E). A remarkable position at the heart of southern Swedish Lapland, in an area of vast forests and lakes characteristic of Norrbotten. Lappträskstugan is associated with the traditional craft of "Knuttimmerstugor" — log cabins assembled by notching according to the ancestral Scandinavian technique, a point of pride in Lapland's rural architecture. An outstanding setting typical of Swedish Lapland: boreal taiga (spruce, Scots pine, birch), peat bogs ("myr"), glacial lakes, vast wilderness expanses. Emblematic wildlife: moose ("älg"), semi-domestic reindeer (traditional Sami herding), brown bear, boreal lynx, wolverine, great northern diver, Eurasian eagle-owl. Located on the fringe of Lapland's major routes: Kungsleden ("The King's Trail", a 440 km long-distance trail), Sami trails. Sami cultural tradition (Lapland's indigenous people) is strongly present here.
