The place
German alpine hut (DAV Karlsruhe section) located at 2430 m elevation in the Ötztal Alps (Tyrol, Austria). Also called "Karlsruher Hütte" or "Langtaleregghütte". Historic hut built at the end of the 19th century by mountaineers from Karlsruhe. Classic base for high-altitude routes and ski mountaineering in the Ötztal Alps.
Getting there
From Ötztal station by bus or car to Obergurgl (1927 m), 2 h-2 h 30 on foot through Swiss stone pine forest, Rotmooswasserfall and Schönwieskopf. Also accessible by mountain bike.
