Lake Chalice Hut

The place

Standard hut with 8 bunks run by DOC in Mount Richmond Forest Park (southern Marlborough), at 794 m. Built in 1963 and renovated roughly 13 years later. Access from Staircase Road car park in 1 h (2.6 km); 5 h from Mid Goulter Hut (9 km); 7 h from Old Man Hut (10 km). No booking, payment by hut tickets or Backcountry Hut Pass (NZ$10/5 until 30 June 2026). Check Marlborough Sounds road conditions before setting out.
