The place
Rifugio / bivouac at 1730 m in the municipality of Abetone Cutigliano, in the Tuscan-Emilian chain of the northern Apennines (Tuscany — not Lombardy as the record might suggest). Located at the head of the Sestaione valley, below the Alpe Tre Potenze, on the edge of the Lago Nero (glacial lake). CAI section of Pistoia. Good base for hikes between Abetone and Cutigliano, in an unspoiled alpine setting of the northern Apennines. Not to be confused with the Rifugio Capanna Lago Nero at Valgoglio (Bergamo area, Lombardy) at 1997 m on the tour of the 9 lakes of Valgoglio.
