The place
Unmanned hut set at 1344 m in the Jura vaudois Regional Nature Park (canton of Vaud, Switzerland). Very comfortable according to visitor reports: fitted with an electric lamp, a folding mattress and an emergency cushion. Always open, the building also contains a table and benches as well as 2 mattresses. Dry wood is provided but must be replaced with deadwood after use (an eco-responsibility rule). Notable location reachable from the Refuge de la Pierre Tournante (1340 m) by continuing along the trail for about 1 km. Setting typical of the Jura vaudois forests: beech-fir stands, wooded pastures (iconic cultural landscapes characteristic of the Jura vaudois Regional Nature Park created in 2013), isolated spruce in the meadows. Iconic wildlife: Jura chamois, Eurasian lynx (reintroduced in the 1980s), capercaillie, roe deer, red squirrel. A stop on the Jura vaudois Regional Nature Park routes linking Le Chenit, Le Brassus and the Vallée de Joux.
