The place

Rustic shelter on the Monts-Valin trail network, north of Saguenay (Quebec). The usual stage after the Refuge Ulysse, reached by about 8 km of walking through boreal forest. Serves as a base for snowshoeing and off-piste ski trips in the area famous for its "ghosts" — frost-sculpted spruce shaped by the winter winds — which give the Monts-Valin their winter reputation. Basic wooden accommodation by reservation with SEPAQ; wood stove, mezzanine, basic dishware. Ideal for a multi-day traverse on the Ulysse / Hibernal network of the Monts-Valin National Park.
