The place

Small historic cabin on the islet of Melskär in the Sankt Anna archipelago, southeast of Aspöja, in the municipality of Söderköping (Östergötland, Sweden). Given to King Carl XVI Gustaf for his 50th birthday by the Swedish Armed Forces. Originally built as a traditional hunting and fishing cabin, now simple accommodation for a maximum of two people. Amenities: outdoor fireplace with seating area, dry toilet. Access only by boat or kayak. Booking through the county administrative board (Länsstyrelsen): enheten.for.skotsel.av.skyddad.natur.ostergotland@lansstyrelsen.se, specifying interest in the "Melskärsstugan." The reserve is accessible from Arkösund or Skärgårdsbyn at Mon, with limited public transport via regional bus 781.
