The place
Free hut (autiotupa) in the Kevo Strict Nature Reserve (Utsjoki, Finnish Lapland) managed by Metsähallitus. Unique in character: the first Metsähallitus autiotupa located in a conservation area, and the first building to combine a hiking shelter with a maintenance facility for reindeer herders (in collaboration with a local grazing cooperative). Strictly marked route in summer to protect the sensitive canyon and fell landscape. Official inauguration of the renovated version on 22 March 2023, after the old cabin had become unusable.
