Кордон Мелкоедово
The place
Кордон Мелкоедово (Melkoyedovo Cordon, "Eat-little") in the Republic of Khakassia, Abakan/Sayanogorsk sector (southern Siberia, Russia), at 519 m altitude, in the Yenisei basin. Part of the continuous Russia Siberia cluster (batches 250-308). A forest ranger outpost within the Khakassky State Nature Reserve (a legacy of the Soviet-era 1991 Zapovednik), heritage of the Khakas people (a Turkic-Tatar shamanist people, ~63,000 strong) and of the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station (Russia's 2nd most powerful, 6400 MW, site of the 17 August 2009 disaster which killed 75 people).
