Kongshelleren
The place
A magnificently isolated DNT self-service cabin in the Skarvheimen, on the high plateau linking the Hardangervidda to the Aurlandsdalen (Vestland, Norway). The building appears amid a mineral, almost lunar landscape, after a long traverse of scree and high plateaus. An intermediate stop between Iungsdalshytta and Geiterygghytta on the marked routes of the Skarvheimen. Self-service supplies on site, with the possibility of making pancakes in the morning. Included in several classic loops of about 17 km through the wild plateau terrain, and in the multi-day traverses linking Finse, the Aurlandsdalen and the Hallingdal.
