Kiwi Mouth Hut

The place

DOC hut in Kaweka Forest Park (Hawke's Bay), at 620 m on the western boundary of the Ngaruroro River. Built in 1960, an ideal staging base for accessing Manson Country and the more remote western areas of the park. Facilities: water from Kiwi Creek, open fireplace, meat safe, long-drop toilet. Helipad right in front. Access from Manson Hut (3-4 hours return), Kiwi Saddle Hut (2-3 hours), or Cameron car park via Cameron Hut along the Ngaruroro riverbed (9 km, up to 7 hours). No booking required, payment by hut tickets or Backcountry Hut Pass (NZ$10/5 until 30 June 2026).
