The place
Covered hexagonal kiosk at 400 m on a raised plateau at the "Nez de Soultz", in the Vosges massif (Haut-Rhin, Alsace). Open shelter (unstaffed cabin according to refuges.info), managed by the Club Vosgien sections of Soultz and Guebwiller. Exceptional viewpoint: panorama over Soultz, Guebwiller and its vineyards, Issenheim, the Alsace plain and the Black Forest in the distance. A popular stop on the R 705 route ("Circuit des incontournables", 8.6 km / 250 m elevation gain) or R 559 ("Nez, Rocher et Oratoire", 8.4 km). A vineyard-plus-forest setting typical of the southern Alsace foothills. Suitable for mountain biking / e-MTB on certain routes.
