Kinhütte
The place
The Kinhütte: A Historic Mountain Hut in Switzerland The Kinhütte is a hut located above Randa in the canton of Valais, Switzerland, privately run by a mountain guide. Built by mountain guides from Randa and Täsch, it was used as accommodation for hunters, hikers, and mountaineers. Due to changes in the King glacier, the hut was rarely visited by mountaineers from 1960 onward. From 1950 to 1963, the Kinhütte housed the workers building a Grande-Dixence dam water intake on the King glacier. Location and Use The Kinhütte is a stage on the Europaweg trail, or a starting point for high-mountain excursions to the Dom, the Täschhorn, or the Grabenhorn. Availability Open: from early July to late September. Reservation: not available online. Funding Funding: entirely private.
