Keebles Hut
The place
Keebles Hut in Kosciuszko National Park, Adaminaby/Yaouk area (Snowy Mountains, Australian Alps, New South Wales, Australia), at 412 m altitude, on the main range of the Snowy Mountains. Continuous cluster Kosciuszko (batches 240-341). Historic squatter's hut (named after "Keeble", a pioneer farmer from the 1830s, predating Kosciuszko NP 1944 protection), in an area of Eucalyptus pauciflora snow gum at the alpine treeline (the most frost-tolerant eucalyptus in the world), bordering the Australian alpine feldmark (Australia's only alpine biome, 200 km² in Kosciuszko, at 2228 m the highest point on the continent), and home to the Yuin-Ngarigo (Aboriginal peoples of the Snowy Mountains, wintering in the Yaouk/Bidgee valleys and summering at the summit).
