Karl Langer Haus
The place
Self-catering hut (Selbstversorger) of the Naturfreunde Wien at around 700 m in Losenheim, at the foot of the Schneeberg (Lower Austria). Capacity of up to 27 people. Renamed "Karl Langer Haus" in 1995 in tribute to the man who actively drove the development of the house at Losenheim. Located directly beside a run of the Salamander ski area: the nearest ski lift is 200 m away, and the cross-country ski trail starts about 2 km away. A good base for ski touring and summer hiking toward the Schneeberg, the Öhler and the Schober; mountain biking possible. Important: the house has been closed since 1 January 2024 for necessary renovation work — check before planning a trip.
