Karitunturin ahmatupa

The place

Autiotupa (free-to-use open cabin) at the foot of Karitunturi (Posio municipality, Lapland), coordinates 66.1564°N 28.2855°E. Capacity for 10 people. Facilities: kamina (stove), gas cooker, no traditional fireplace; fair condition. Reached via a 0.5 km spur off the Karitunturi-Riisitunturi route (on the UKK trail). **Since 1 June 2025, Metsähallitus has stopped supplying firewood and maintaining the toilets; the cabin remains accessible but should be used sparingly, and cutting wood in the protected forest is prohibited.**
