The place

A self-service DNT cabin located at 1275 m on the ridge that splits Kaldavatnet in two, in the high mountains above the Voss valley (Hordaland). The complex comprises three buildings: the main cabin, a safety cabin, and an outbuilding with toilets. Unstaffed, with no supplies on site: bring your own provisions. Open year-round, locked with the standard DNT key. Booking via DNT hyttebestilling. Discount for DNT members, free for member children aged 0 to 12. Wild high-mountain terrain relatively accessible from Upsete: via T-marked trails from the Upsete stations (6 km, 400 m elevation gain, the shortest route, family-friendly), from Myrdal or from Hallingskeid.
