Kaipo Hut

The place

6-bunk DOC backcountry hut in the northern part of Fiordland National Park, at 78 m. Free. No DOC track: independent navigation skills (map, compass, GPS) are essential. Expert-level river crossings required: "Do not cross if the river or stream is flooded, you cannot find safe entry and exit points or are unsure it's safe." Check NIWA flow data before setting out. A destination for experienced trampers only.
