The place
Self-service DNT cabin at 880 m in the southern Setesdal Vesthei (Agder, Norway), as far as possible from roads and settlements, deep in the moorland. Located on the south-eastern slope of Store Hallvorsvatn with wide views to the west. 20 places. Annexe with one accommodation room (4 bunk beds) plus 2 dog boxes. Well-equipped kitchen with gas stove, solar panels for lighting, wood stove. Built in 1993, a gift from Kristiansand merchant Ivar Mjaaland under two conditions: it had to be at least a day's walk from a road, and named after Joseph Stumph. Most common access: crossing the moorland from the west via Kvinen or from the east via Gaukhei; direct access from Ljosland/Langevatndammen. Booking via hyttebestilling.dnt.no.
