Johnson's Hut
The place
Johnson's Hut in Alpine National Park, Mount Buller/Mansfield sector (Victoria, Australia), at 1284 m altitude, in the Bogong Range. Part of a continuous Alpine AU cluster (batches 231-315). A historic cattlemen's hut (named after the Johnson family, VIC pioneers from the 1860s), in an area of Eucalyptus pauciflora snow gums, home to the Bogong moth Agrotis infusa (a migratory species, millions of individuals in summer, historically a food source for the Ngarigo/Taungurung Aboriginal peoples). Affected by the 2009 Black Saturday fires.
