The place

24-bunk DOC hut at 102 m on the Whanganui Journey (Whanganui National Park, Manawatu/Whanganui, NZ). High season rates (Oct-Apr): $35 adults / $18 youth 5-17; low season (May-Sept): $25 / $12.50. International visitors same rates. Children free. NZ residents: proof of eligibility required. Backcountry passes accepted May-September only (not accepted in high season Oct-Apr). Water to be boiled/filtered/treated. No mobile coverage on the river. Sandflies January-May. No surcharge if flooding forces an extra night. Book online with DOC. Te Araroa walkers: separate Trail Pass required.
