Iron Bark Hut

The place

Standard-category six-bunk DOC hut at 541 m in Ruahine Forest Park (Manawatu-Whanganui). Facilities: river water, wood burner. Renovated by Backcountry Trust volunteers in April 2024. Access via marked trail from Otukota Hut, about 5 km / 3 h walk. Rate NZ$10 adult and NZ$5 for ages 5-17 per night, free below that, payable via standard tickets or Backcountry Hut Pass. No booking.
