The place

Northern refuge of the Ilha a Pé network on Santa Maria island (Azores), 50 m from the GR1SMA trail facing Casa do Norte. Open views of the ocean and of São Miguel on clear days, binoculars available to observe the Formigas islets (lighthouse). A peaceful atmosphere, with cattle grazing nearby. Remarkable sunsets, and Cory's shearwaters audible at night from June onward.
