Ignaz-Mattis-Hütte: A Historic Refuge in the Schladming Tauern The Ignaz-Mattis-Hütte is a hut belonging to the Vienna section of the Austrian Alpine Club, located in the Schladming mountains (Styria). Perched above the northern shore of the Unterer Giglachsee, on the central trail of the Austrian Alps. History Built in 1910/1911 by the Vienna section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club, the Ignaz-Mattis-Hütte was inaugurated on 2 July 1911. An extension was added in 1926. The hut is named in honour of Ignaz Mattis, a former chairman of the Vienna section.
