Hütte am Knochen
The place
Hiking shelter located at 709 m in the wooded hills of the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains, Saxony), near the summit of the Knochen above the Mulde valley. A small wood-and-stone Schutzhütte, open and unstaffed, along the walking and mountain-biking trails that cross the cross-border German-Czech range. A resting spot and weather shelter with no beds, used year-round by hikers, cross-country skiers in winter, and cyclists in summer. A typically Saxon setting of conifer forests and high-altitude peat bogs, on routes linking the former mining towns of the Erzgebirge.
Getting there
Local trails and mountain-biking routes of the Erzgebirge. Can be combined with the neighboring mining towns (Sayda, Holzhau).
The setting
Forested heights of the eastern Erzgebirge, near the Knochen, Mulde valley.
