The place
Standard 8-bunk hut at 1,353 m in Ruahine Forest Park (Hawke's Bay, NZ). Built in 1958 by tramping clubs, renovated in February 2025. Owned and maintained by the Heretaunga Tramping Club. Standard DOC passes are not valid here; donations go directly to the club. Water tank, wood stove. Access via Kashmir Road (11 km from Mill Road off Makaretu Road via SH50) then a 2 km walk.
