The place
Alpine pasture hut set at 1064 m in the municipality of Triesenberg (canton of Liechtenstein), at the heart of the Rätikon. A remarkable position on the eastern foothills of the massif, on the fringe of the main tourist routes of Liechtenstein towards Malbun and the famous Pfälzerhütte (2108 m, a staffed DAV refuge). The Triesenberg area, one of Liechtenstein's eleven municipalities, is known for its Walser traditions (Alemannic settlement in the 13th century, an Alemannic dialect still spoken). A typical alpine forest setting of the Rätikon: beech-fir forests, alpine pastures dotted with spruce, open views over the alpine Rhine valley and the Vorarlberg Alps chain. Iconic wildlife: chamois, marmot (occasional presence), golden eagle, peregrine falcon. Located on the fringe of the Liechtensteiner Panoramaweg trail and Walser heritage discovery routes.
