DOC lodge in the Holdsworth area of Tararua Forest Park (Wairarapa, NZ), at 323 m. 28 places across 3 spaces: Bunk Room (20 bunks), Kākā Room (4) and Kererū Room (4); camping for a further 17 people. 15 km via Norfolk Road, 2 km south of Masterton via SH2. Public parking required, no vehicle access to the lodge. On a large lawn surrounded by native forest, a base for the Tararua Range (tramping, hunting, fishing, swimming in the Atiwhakatu River in summer). Electric lighting, heating (wood and heat pump), hot showers, kitchen equipment, flush toilets. Water must be boiled. Bedding not provided. Rates: $28/bunk adult, $14/bunk child, $90 private room, $404 whole lodge.
