Holden fjellgård (Bekkstugu)

The place

Self-service cabin of Nord-Trøndelag Turistforening (DNT) at 450 metres elevation in the Snåsafjella, near the Swedish border, in Snåsa municipality (Trøndelag, Norway), within Blåfjella-Skjækerfjella National Park. Holden is the central farm of the three mountain farms in the area; agricultural activity documented since at least 1788, likely earlier. Holden was abandoned as a working farm, but NTT has rented the Bekkstuggu building on the property since 1988. Eleven bunks: seven in the old section, four in the new section; it is also possible to sleep on the sofas or on the floor in both sections, which have two separate kitchens. Many hiking opportunities (including family-friendly ones), good hunting and fishing prospects. A marked summer route runs between Holden and Imsdalen.
