Hohlohhütte
The place
Schutzhütte at approximately 984-990 m at the foot of the Hohlohturm (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Turm), on the Kaltenbronn plateau, municipality of Gernsbach in the northern Black Forest (Baden-Württemberg). A stone lookout tower built by the Schwarzwaldverein in 1897 (current structure: 28.6 m tall after the 1968 extension), overlooking the Hochmoor Kaltenbronn peat bogs. Renovated in 2006 by the Schwarzwaldverein, the cabin offers shelter in case of bad weather. A stop on the Wildsee-Hohloh and Hohlohmoor-Runde routes, near the Schwarzmiss (933 m). An exceptional setting of high-altitude peat bogs — Kaltenbronn receives about 300,000 visitors a year, open daily from 9am to 6pm.
