Hohenzollernhaus
The place
The Hohenzollernhaus is a category I staffed hut of the German Alpine Club, Starnberg section, located at 2123 m elevation in the Ötztal Alps (Tyrol, Austria). It sits in the Radurschltal, southeast of Pfunds in the Nauders mountains, on an idyllic alpine pasture surrounded by several 3000 m peaks. Opened on 3 August 1924 (originally 20 places), it now accommodates more than 60 people in season. A freely accessible 10-bed winter room (also usable in summer if needed). Open from early June to early October. Since 2003, a wastewater treatment plant and a small hydroelectric plant on the Radurschlbach provide electrical self-sufficiency.
