The place

Standard hut with twelve bunks managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) in the Wānaka area, Otago region (South Island, New Zealand), at 873 m elevation. Public access allowed via an easement across the Motatapu Station Pastoral Lease. Rates until 30 June 2026: NZD 10/night adult, NZD 5 youth (5-17 years), free under 5. No booking (first come, first served), but payment mandatory via Standard Hut Ticket deposited in the honesty box or via annual Backcountry Hut Pass.
