The place

Self-service cabin managed by Kristiansund og Nordmøre Turistforening (KNT) in the municipality of Surnadal (Møre og Romsdal, Norway), at 420 metres elevation. Originally a bathhouse, converted into a mountain shelter in 2002. Sleeps 12: six in the main building and four in the annex. Gas kitchen, 12V lighting, mobile coverage, toilet in the annex, wood stove, annex with sleeping space for dogs. Open year-round, unlocked: visitor logbook and rules on site via the DNT app. Own sheet liner or bedsheet accepted; sleeping bags not permitted for hygiene reasons. Booking possible for about half the beds via the DNT system. Basic provisions available (canned goods, dry goods, chocolate). Water from the nearby stream. Summer access from Moen via a marked trail; alternative winter route. Contact turist@knt.no.
