Basic 3-bunk DOC hut in the Whakaari Conservation Area (Otago), at 1,314 m. Free. **Water warning**: due to former mining activity, the area is contaminated — filtering or boiling stream water is not enough to remove the contamination. Bring your own water supply; the water in the tank on site is unreliable.
