Hauerseehütte
The place
The Hauerseehütte is a self-service hut of the German Alpine Club, Ludwigsburg section, set at 2383 m elevation on the Geigenkamm high above the Ötztal (Tyrol, Austria). Perched above a steep rock face in the Hauerferner basin, with the crystal-clear green and blue waters of Lake Hauersee. Capacity of 15 mattress places plus a few emergency spots. Two gas stoves and a wood stove. Closed from mid-October to end of May due to avalanche risk. Access from Längenfeld (1206 m) via the plague chapel, the Hauertal or Unterried (steep trail) in about 3h30. From Umhausen-Köfels (1401 m), via Wurzberg-, Stabele- and Innerbergalm in about 4 hours.
