The place

Free Metsähallitus autiotupa (open wilderness hut) in the Tuntsa wilderness area, on the UKK trail between Hautajärvi and Nuortti, on the border of Salla and Savukoski municipalities (Lapland). Maximum capacity 10 people. Facilities: hiking trail, cooking equipment, indoor hearth, firewood, toilet. Building shared with the Härkätunturi varaustupa (paid side, via Eräluvat.fi). Access: about 18 km on foot from Tulpio via the UKK trail; about 23 km from Salla in summer via Tuntsa heading north. Coordinates: 67°40.1555'N 29°27.2271'E.
