The place

A DOC "serviced" hut with 20 bunks at 836 m in Craigieburn Forest Park (Canterbury, near Arthur's Pass). Bookable until June 2027 (same-day online booking possible until 8 pm, subject to availability). Backcountry Hut Pass valid from 1 May to 30 September only, but usable year-round for camping within 200 m of the hut. Rates: adults $25, youth $12.50.
