The place

A cabin ("stuga") set at 145 m in Bohuslän (Swedish west coast, Västra Götaland province), in an open, bright setting where the famous Bohusleden trail runs along Lake Hällesvattnet. Managed by the Uddevalla branch of Friluftsfrämjandet (Swedish outdoor promotion organization, founded in 1892). Overnight bookings possible through this organization. A notable location on the Bohusleden route — a 360 km long-distance trail crossing Bohuslän from north to south, famous for its distinctive coastal landscapes of fjords, granite islands, and mixed boreal forests. An exceptional setting on Sweden's west coast: boreal pine forests, glacial lakes, the nearby Tjörn and Orust archipelago, characteristic pink granite cliffs. Iconic wildlife: elk, roe deer, boreal lynx, eagle owl, red-throated loon (only in unspoiled lakes). Bohuslän is famous for its Bronze Age rock carvings (Tanum, UNESCO World Heritage since 1994).
