The place
Haldi Bari Hut ("Turmeric Yard Hut") in Namdapha National Park, Miao/Deban area (Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh, far northeast India), at 482 m elevation, in tropical forest of the Brahmaputra-Irrawaddy basin. New India cluster appearing at batch 342. Forest hut of the Indian Forest Service (IFS) on the Namdapha trail (1,985 km², the 4th largest national park in India, the largest in Northeast India, the only park in India home to all 4 big cat species: Panthera tigris tigris, the Indian tiger, some 20 vs 200 in the Sundarbans + Panthera pardus, leopard + Neofelis nebulosa, clouded leopard + Prionailurus bengalensis, fishing cat), an area of subtropical Himalayan rainforest (endemism: Namdapha, capped langurs Trachypithecus obscurus + hoolock gibbon Hoolock hoolock leuconedys, endemic to India-Myanmar), heritage of the Chakma-Lisu (Tibeto-Burman people, 40,000, in Arunachal Pradesh, indigenous hunter-gatherers).
