Haldenseehaus: An Architectural Gem in the Heart of the Bavarian Alps The Haldenseehaus is a self-catering hut owned by the Hohenstaufen-Göppingen section of the German Alpine Club. Location The Haldenseehaus is located at 1,150 meters altitude in the Tyrolean part of the Allgäu Alps, in the Tannheim valley, in the municipality of Nesselwängle. It sits about one kilometer west of the village center, in the Schmitte district, near the Tannheimer road (B199). Access By train to Reutte, then bus By bus on the Reutte-Tannheim line, followed by about 100 m on foot By car directly to the hut Activities and Excursions The hut serves as a base for hiking and cycling trips in the Tannheim valley. Nearby is the Kletterwald Tannheimer Tal treetop rope course. The nearby Haldensee lake is a swimming lake at the heart of the Tannheim mountains. On site there is a double chairlift as well as three drag lifts and a beginner lift. The sledding run is reachable via the double chairlift. In addition, the Tannheim valley offers numerous downhill and cross-country ski runs. Lake Haldensee has a small ice rink. History The Haldenseehaus was acquired in 1962 by the Hohenstaufen-Göppingen section of the German Alpine Club, then renovated in 1963-64 and extended in 1977 and 1983-85.
