Guppenalp-Oberstafel
The place
An active alpine pasture with an artisan cheese dairy, located at 1658 m on the eastern slopes of the Glärnisch in the Glarus Alps (Switzerland). During the alpine season, from around mid-June to September, the lessees of the alp offer accommodation at the Guppen Oberstafel, which also serves as a base for routes on the Vrenelisgärtli via the Guppengrat. Sixteen beds available in a simple, rustic high-altitude lodging. The hut is featured in the Swiss Alpine Club's Tourenportal as a hiking destination and a stage for routes in the Glarus Alps. Getting there
From Schwändi (municipality of Glarus Süd) via Guppen, then up to Oberstafel. A classic route for the Vrenelisgärtli via the Guppengrat.
