The place
Staffed refuge set at 1,987 m straddling the provinces of Bergamo (municipality of Valtorta) and Lecco (Lombardy, Italy). A remarkable location at the foot of the Pizzo Tre Signori (2,554 m, "Peak of the Three Lords") on the Camisolo alpine pasture — the westernmost of the refuges in the Bergamo Orobie. A major stage on the "Sentiero delle Orobie Occidentali" (Western Orobie Trail), a 50-km long-distance route crossing the Orobie range over several days, linking the massif's main refuges. High-altitude cuisine: mountain specialities — Taleggio PDO cheese, nettle pasta ("ravioli ai borraggini"), alpine dairy products, charcuterie typical of Valtorta, aged cheeses. Excellent reviews on the quality of the food. Exceptional alpine setting of the Orobie Alps: subalpine grasslands, high-altitude larches, panorama over the Rhaetian Alps (Bernina on the horizon in clear weather). Emblematic wildlife: chamois, marmot, golden eagle, bearded vulture (reintroduced), rock ptarmigan. Classic access from Valtorta (BG) or from the Lecco side via the high-altitude loops.
