Grange de la Vaunayre

The place

Barn at 1412 m in the commune of Vassieux-en-Vercors (Drôme). Basic: earthen floor, planks to sit on but not to sleep on, in good condition for sheltering from bad weather. Large door with no windows, but metal plates let light through. Fires strictly forbidden inside due to the large floor area. Historical link to the Resistance Memorial, attested by a history panel fixed to the large door. Access from the Col de la Chaux, halfway between the two Memorial car parks: green- and yellow-waymarked path (very steep, used by forestry vehicles).
