The place

The Rifugio Del Grande-Camerini is a small hut of the Italian Alpine Club, Sovico section, set at 2580 m in the upper Valmalenco (Lombardy), at the Bocchetta Piattè di Vazzeda, on the watershed between Val Sissone and Val Bona. Built in 1937 and owned by the Sovico section since 2001, it is run by CAI volunteers who take turns during the summer season. It offers only 10 places (4 on a platform in the main cabin, 4 in an annex room that serves as a bivouac when the hut is closed, and 2 emergency places). Reservations strongly advised. Exceptional view of the north face of Monte Disgrazia and its glacier. On the Sentiero Italia CAI (stage D23N) and the Alta Via Valmalenco (stage 3).
